5 - ESS3 - Human footprint - FINAL (CJT 1/14/2014)

Module: Human Footprint
DCI: ESS3.C (A) Human Impacts on Earth Systems – Human activities in agriculture, industry, and everyday life have had major effects on the land, vegetation, streams, ocean, air, and even outer space.

 PE: 5-ESS3-1 Obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth’s resources and environment.

No Clarification Statements

Here's what it appears kids are supposed to know.

- Humans do things that have had major effects on the following...
     - land
     - vegetation (why not animals?)
     - streams (why not lakes or ponds?)
     - the ocean
     - the air
     - outer space

The things that humans do that have the effects are these...
     - agriculture (farming)
     - industry 
     - everyday life (? leisure activities, driving cars? )


Once again, it seems that that we have to provide kids with information, then have them analyze it to figure out humans have effects, and what they can do to have less of an effect.
