K - ESS3 - Earth and Human Activity - FINAL (CJT 1-10-14)

Module: Habitats
DCI: ESS3.A (A) Natural Resources – Living things need water, air, and resources from the land, and they live in places that have the things they need.
PE: K-ESS3-1 Use a model to represent the relationship between the needs of different plants or animals (including humans) and the places they live.

No Clarification Statements

The basic content is as follows.

- Plants need water, air and "resources from the land" (It seems as if sunlight is not being included, or are we meant to understand that sunlight is a resources plants get "from the land"?)

- Animals need water, air and "resources from the land"

- Plants get what they need from the place where they live.

- Animals get what they need from the place where they live.

- Beyond this, we want kids to have a "model" of animals living where they get what they need. I have to figure that we are talking about a conceptual model here.

Possible Questions:

To live, plants need -

In order to stay alive, animals need -

Where does (a plant/an animal) get the (air/water/other need) it needs?

A (plant/animal) needs "X", so it lives -
